Americans head to the polls Tuesday in midterm elections that will determine the balance of power in Washington for the final two years of President Donald Trump’s term.
Voters will elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives and fill 35 of the Senate’s 100 seats. The elections could give Democrats control of one or both chambers of Congress or allow Republicans to retain their majorities.
The vote comes amid deep divisions over the Trump administration’s policies at home and abroad, including the war with Iran and U.S. relations with the Middle East.
